Why Join the Indiana SATS Consortium?
Today, if you live in Bloomington and need to attend a meeting in South Bend, you can’t do it in one day. With the realization of SATS, however, you will be able to hail an air taxi at the Monroe County Airport, attend a two-hour morning meeting in South Bend and be home in time for a late lunch in Bloomington. When you need to travel greater distances, you will be able to take an air taxi directly from your small community airport to a hub airport like Indianapolis or O’Hare rather than spending countless hours on the road. The Indiana SATS Consortium is the sixth regional consortium to be established that will contribute to the national SATS program. Although the other five SATS consortia are dedicated to the research and development of SATS technologies, the mission of the Indiana SATS Consortium is to prove the regional benefits of using the SATS technologies to make point-to-point commercial air travel available from most small airports in Indiana. Although the Indiana SATS Consortium has received funding from NASA, we must match its investment. By joining the Indiana SATS Consortium, you will have the opportunity to be in the early stages of the revolution in air travel and be a key player in transforming Indiana's economy into a dynamic hotbed for aviation research and development. For a small investment, you can contribute to and benefit from the research that the Indiana SATS Consortium will be conducting to measure the economic impact of SATS on Indiana’s small communities. Armed with this research, you will be ready to tackle the following challenges:
